TrustedPlaces Launch the TrustedWidgetWant to see the latest reviews of restaurants, venues, clubs and bars relevant to you or your website? Then TrustedPlaces latest addition to their service, the TrustedWidget, should be able to help you out.

TrustedPlaces is a growing community of local reviewers, who contribute their thoughts on local places in a Social Network – while some of you might want every location in London that does Real Ale, you’re more likely to trust your friends. TrustedPlaces allows those connections to be made online.

The launch of the TrustedWidget allows you a visual guide on your website, blog or “generic social network ‘about me’ profile page” is a simple matter of embedding a small piece of code, which TrustedPlaces will generate for you to cut and paste wherever you need it. Three size options are available (180, 300 or 500, pixels in width, all of them locked at 500 pixles high) which does make it a touch unwieldy to fit in certain locations, but it’s perfect for blog sidebars.

It’s also a good first building block widget, even though the only variables you can alter are the location it is based around (either the name of a city or a postcode), but as the TrustedPlaces network grows, the addition of ‘just my reviews,’ ‘just my friends’ and other filtering options should be featured to provide a more personal gateway to your social hot spots around town.

    Hey Ewan,
thanks for the post and the feedback.
We have got the options you mention - a member of TrustedPlaces can choose between their own or their friends’ reviews in addition to geography.
Someone who’s not a registered member can still grab a widget, but then they can only select content based on a specific area/postcode.
Any feedback/comments are more than welcome, as always.

This is all well and good, but until they fix the responsiveness of the site, I’m going to be using other recommendation sites.
